“Since its introduction in 1957, the Harley-Davidson Sportster has proved capable of constant reinvention, and the Roadster writes a new chapter in that story. We’ve watched our customers take the Sportster in so many different directions. The Roadster is a mash-up of styling genres, but the intent was to build a rider’s motorcycle, a Sportster that’s lean and powerful and connects the rider to the road.”

The seat remains at same 785mm saddle height.

Polaris India has launched the all-new 2016 Springfield, priced at Rs 30.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The official bookings for the new touring motorcycle have already commenced and deliveries will begin from August onwards.

Named after the company's headquarters in Springfield, Massachusetts, this performance cruiser features a trunk-compatible chassis for higher loading capacity. The tourer sports a bespoke quick-release windshield, and gets other standard features such as remote locking hard bags, adjustable passenger floorboards, leather seating, anti-lock brakes, tire pressure monitoring and cruise control.

Measuring 2,583mm in length, 990mm in width, 1,442mm in height, and 1,701mm between the axles, the Springfield tips the scales at 388kg. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks up front and an air adjustable rear mono-shock.

Standard front and rear highway bars allow mounting of accessories and offer valuable protection from tip-overs. The brakes up front consist of dual 300mm rotors clamped down by four-piston callipers, while the rear gets a single 300mm rotor and two-piston calliper setup.

Steve Menneto, president of motorcycles for Polaris Industries, said: "The new Indian Springfield wasn't designed to fill a space in our line-up; it was built to fill a space in the hearts of riders who value the rich heritage and fine craftsmanship of Indian Motorcycle, and who want both a pure touring bike and a sleek urban cruiser."

Besides the Springfield, the Indian Motorcycle range for the market here includes the Chief Classic, Chief Vintage, Chieftain, Chief Dark Horse, Scout and Roadmaster.

Hi brothers

I'm located in Gurgaon & My Honda CBR 250R's temporary registration expired yesterday. I haven't received the permanent registration yet. I went to the dealer & asked him about the status, he told me that they haven't received it yet from the RTO & sometimes it takes around 2 months to get it in Gurgaon.
My ZMR was registered in Delhi & I got the no. in 7 days & the RC took 3 wks to come.
Please advise how to handle the cops if they stop & check my bike's papers. I do not give bribes.

Unicorn alteration from mono to dual suspension or linkage suspension

$

Hello all
I am having severe back pain since i am using unicorn, its totally bad in city bumps. I have tried all setting and adjustments from the service centre in the last one year and exhausted. Doing some research i learnt that mono suspension tend to be harder for good handling during high speeds etc etc, but definitely poor in absorbing shocks.

I love this bike very much(except mono suspension ) so I am planning to put pulsar 150 nitrox suspension to my unicorn as they are pampering to my back during bumps. I dont have any idea how to go about this and where exactly the dual suspension needs to placed, the angle of inclination etc. But i want to change change the suspension.
I also rode honda CBR which has linkage suspension, it feels like a car.. Can i put this kind of suspension to Unicorn?

Please help me guys how to go about this. I am really waiting for your replies. Because company service guys and most mechanics ouside have least knowledge on suspensions.

Is TVS Apache RTR 180 doing wrong?

$

Hi,

I bought RTR 180 about 1 Yr and 4 Months back. Though the bike is good, but sometimes I fell some problems with the engine...

Recently I have faced some problem with my clutch and also with the RPM.

1. The problem I faced in clutch is, I have to leave the clutch little microseconds/second/seconds late and also the clutch lever play is more loose when pressing...
I have told this problem to mechanic while giving to service, and they too have done clutch adjustments... All the free 4 service they have done this..
PS:-(Free service period is once in 2 months or 2k which ever is earlier)
But again and again after some weeks I felt same and after some months (like 2-3 Months), I felt that problem got increased little more.

2. And with my RPM, sometimes, if I have reduced the gear and speed, and came to first gear, the RPM is not getting down to idle RPM. Instead it is lying in somewhere around 3-4K range and sounds like something. The SVC persons have adjusted something. But still sometimes I am getting it....

I feel like there may be some problem with the internals or is there some other problem....

I have inquired about these kind of issues with friends having R15, CBR.. But they told, "We are not having such problems"...

Whether, TVS is sacrificing on the quality on the products, because of doing the low cost budget on RTR.

I am not complaining anybody, hereby.

I just want to know, why the bike is behaving so, when compared to other bikes in the segment.

Eagerly looking towards the suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Would buying CBR 250R be a good decision now?

Hello Xbhpians,
This question may have been asked many a times, but still I have no option but asking it again.
I am from a district town in West Bengal, riding a Bajaj Pulsar 150 UG3 for more than 8 years. There have been little to no complaints regarding my bike. Perhaps little credit could be attributed to my riding style too. However nowadays I am feeling like upgrading it.
I have been looking for a suitable upgrade since 10-12 months, almost zeroed on CBR 250R. But a few mishaps in my family restricted my purchase. So my searching for my next ride resumed from where it was stalled.
I am 5'8" average build. Riding experience of about 90K kms.
I am looking for a bike capable of cruising around 100 kms with decent pillion comfort and smooth engine. My usage would be in city 50% highway 50% approx, also for occasional touring. Budget around 3 lakhs, could be extended a little further. Also am looking to keep this bike for at least 5-6 years if not more.
After going through the ownership experience threads of Yamaha R3 I almost selected it but the dealer said it's not available here. [emoji19]
So the choice again left at CBR 250R. But considering its falling sales and age would it be good decision to invest in one? Or should I go for a 2016 Duke 390?
Benelli and Mojo are out of option as these are not available in my city and I cannot go to Kolkata for each and every service related issues, if any.
Thanks in advance.

A hybrid device to reduce two-wheelers fuel consumption by 38%

Ayata-IQ named Australian start-up has developed a battery-less hybrid device that reduces two-wheeler fuel consumption by 38%. As per the economic times report, the product is ready for commercial sales and company is also talking to few manufactures for the same.

The device named AIQ is an ultracapacitor powered hybrid system that overcomes the traditional problems associated with Lithium-Ion battery powered system. The system will also make the hybrid system more affordable and durable. The device has been successfully tested at ARAI, Automotive Research Association of India.

Craig Hembrow, Cofounder, Ayata IQ said,
Quote:

"The device allows customers save 60% of the bikes total cost after 5 years of fuel savings while the system also does not require manual charging, allowing for the perfect rider experience. Government does not need to invest in expensive charging infrastructure.”
The device AIQ is a control system that switch between electric and petrol powertrain drive. This approach reduces the weigh, complexity and cost of the system. While using the petrol drive, the combustion engine charges the ultracapacitors back up in seconds ready for the next cycle. This eliminates the need of manual charging.

Craig Hembrow further added that company sees big opportunity in the Indian market for this device
Quote:

"We would like to base production in India through strategic partnerships, and export the commodity components globally."
The hybrid device weighs only 5 Kg and it can be retrofitted in the aftermarket. The ultracapacitors used by the device are known for their long life and rapid charging.
Fazul Huq, founder, Ayata IQ said,
Quote:

"Our mission was to make advanced hybrid technology accessible and affordable to all vehicle owners in the world, not just in developed economies. We achieved this by targeting the deficiencies in all electric and hybrid drive systems that incur high upfront cost, frequent and lengthy re-charge periods, poor battery life cycle, and expensive maintenance costs."
Craig Hembrow also said,
Quote:

“We are able to confidently compete in Asian markets because the design of our system has broken through existing cost barriers that have traditionally challenged the development of electric mobility, something no other company has achieve.”

Kawasaki Ninja 300 Clone: Kengo R350

In the past few years we have seen Chinese copy of almost everything, be it a smart phone, motorcycle or premium luxury cars and we all know that when it comes to imitating things, there are few Chinese firms which take it quite seriously.

In the recently appeared images, we came across with Chinese version of Kawasaki Ninja 300 named as Kengo R350. The motorcycle was released in China last year and it mimics the Japanese motorcycle entirely. From the bodywork to head lamp, tail lamp, rear view mirrors and even the exhaust looks similar to the Ninja 300. Though on observing closely, we noticed that the Kengo 350 is equipped with double disc brake up front in comparison to Ninja 300 single disc brake and the design of the allow wheels was also different from what Ninja 300 has.

In terms of power the Kengo 350 is powered by a 320.7 cc, twin cylinder water cooled engine which churns out 23 BHP of power at 8,500 rpm and 25 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm which is far lesser than the Ninja 300’s 39 BHP.

In the other set of news, images of Yamaha YZF-R3 cheap Chinese imitations also went viral on the internet just like the Kawasaki Ninja 300 replica.

The XGJ350 named motorcycle sports the exact same body work as the YZF-R3 with the double exhaust being the only visual on the bike through which one can realize that it’s a different motorcycle. On observing closely, we found that the projector LED head lamps and decal is also different.

[Photo Feature]: Ninja 650R: Testing the man and the machine

$

Riding has no meaning till the time you take the road test. You can run but you cannot hide… so I set out for the trip on my Ninja 650R for the road test which I had been procrastinating since long. I always had heard and read about long trips but I always felt with sports tourer it can’t be done. But the unexplored had to be explored and the notion had to be changed.

It is generally said to take step at a time preferably smalls steps so that you can learn gradually and take your time to adapt and but in my case that didn’t happen at all. I always wanted to go for long bike rides but never got a chance to do so may be due to right company or maybe I avoid large group as I like to be independent. My first ride on my Ninja was to Banbasa 350 odd km which was not a good experience on Ninja as roads were bad and Ninja was uncomfortable to the max due to its riding position and engine heat during the trip and too much taxing on hands due to too much of braking on bad roads.

But when Saurabh discussed with me his plan to go to his home town (Jalgaon, Maharashtra), it ignited a spark which blasted the already lying fuel for riding inside my mind. Without thinking much I said “I am in” for the trip and that was it. Within few days I applied for leaves in office and I was all set.

Now the only question going in my mind was “Such a long ride on Ninja and that also without knowing road conditions and only probable service station in Pune which was 1600km from Gurgaon”. That was a big risk I was taking as I had never read about anyone taking Ninja 650 on such a long ride and also myself being a novice. But to realize the dream, the risk had to be taken.
So the planning started from my side as Saurabh wanted to keep the trip unplanned so as to experience max adventure. But with Ninja in had I had to be little cautious. The planning started from 15th Nov 2015. I drafted the plan (with inputs from Saurabh) above with expected distance between each halt point.

Honda Dazzler Mileage decreased after Piston Bore Replacement

$
0
0
I have a question. I have changed my piston and bore in my dazzler after engine oil leak.Should the mileage improve after this change or will it remain the same.
After I got both of them replaced the mileage improved to 52KMPL for the first 1000kms. And as advised by them, I later took the bike to them for valve adjustment. And from them I see a steady decline in my mileage and right now after 2 months the mileage is back to 42 as it was before the piston replacement.

Is this normal or should I be worried about it?
