Honda had promised a V4 Superbike, based on its MotoGP RCV in 2012, but there was no news of developments after that, even though the rumour mill has been doing the rounds.

The bike is said to be based on the RCV 1000R Production racer that Honda has brought into the Open Class of MotoGP, which is based on the RCV Factory Bikes which is used by Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa in the Factory Repsol team.
The picture of the bike with the fairing makes the bike resemble the CBR1000RR, but a look at the images of the engine tells you a whole different story. What really counts is the engine, the linchpin of the patent. It is a V4 90°, same as the engine of MotoGP, with the V pointing up and slightly tilted back. As in MotoGP, it has no front cylinders pointing downward.
This configuration gives a clue as to what will be the future of MotoGP inspired street Superbike. Notice that even the water pump is placed in the front head, taking the strength of the camshaft, and the RC213V MotoGP.
This configuration mimics undoubtedly, geometry and height of the center of gravity of the RC213V, one of the greatest achievements of this bike, and how much effort and years of work has struggled to find. This images will leave the ardent fan waiting for pictures of the production superbike in its final avatar, which might be a limited number production racer to be used in World Superbike, to replace the aging CBR, which has been struggling to compete in the series.
