Yamaha stated right from the start that this was only the beginning and they are aiming way higher. The main goals were to start understanding rider ergonomics and dynamics from a robot's point of view and replicate the human actions.
This included weight shifting, moves, the way the bike reacts in certain scenarios and being able to program adequate responses from MOTOBOT. Basically, by doing so, Yamaha MOTOBOT became one of the most precise and comprehensive instruments for acquiring data regarding rider dynamics and itself.
Showing off the Yamaha Motobot at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Yamaha and its partner SRI International has made public a very ambitious schedule for Motobot, for the coming years. The Yamaha Motobot will be riding motorcycles at speeds over 200km/h on a race track by 2017.
Yamaha calls this Phase 2 of the Yamaha Motobot development plan, and says that the the sophisticated technologies acquired in achieving the high objectives detailed here are also intended to be applied to advanced technologies and rider support systems in the future, as well as other options that may segue into new business development.
