[What Bike]: What bike?

Hi all,

I planning to buy a new bike and would like some opinions from enthusiasts out here to make a good decision.

Currently I have a TVS fiero f2 and a victor. My f2 is 2003 model and has completed 1lac kms on odo , victor has done around 30K on odo. I really like my f2 which I have used for 10yrs now. Victor is comfortable and good for short distance travel say less than 15kms one way, it feels out of breath on open roads and beyond 60km/h speed.

I am around 5ft 9'', weigh 75kgs. I travel around 50kms every day with 25% traffic being bumper to bumper traffic. So I need a bike with ample amount of power/torque to handle city traffic(no highways or off roading ), it should not struggle to reach 80-100 kms/h speed when needed. The suspensions should be comfortable, my f2 transmits all the shocks from the road directly to my head via the spine. Victor is very comfortable in this aspect.

I prefer an upright riding position and don't want to commute everyday as shown in this pic Name: Apache-RTR-180.jpg

I can spend around 2-2.5lacs on the new machine and also prefer a bike which doesn't make me to visit service station every other day. Servicing every 2.5k kms and occasional maintenance/replacements is fine. I have done lot of diy and self maintenance in the past but at this moment I don't have luxury of time to this so I want a reliable machine.

Based on all the above requirements I have duke 390, 200, Apache 180 abs and RE classic 500 in my mind. Waiting time for RE is 12-14 months so had to rule out this option as I don't prefer waiting 14 months.

My initial thoughts were to go for duke 200 as 390 has longer gear ratios and the sales guy at KTM told me that 200 was more suited to city traffic but after reading lot of reviews and ownership experinces I am bit apprehensive on duke 200 also as many claim there are heating issues in bumper to bumper traffic and it throws a lot slush during monsoons. Cleaning and maintenance of radiator in monsoon season etc ,now I am no longer sure about my decision so open to check other options as well. As long as most of my criteria is met I don't mind looking at bajaj, yamaha stables also..

Any thoughts?
