Bajaj Auto has launched the new Discover 125 which is
aimed at buyers who are looking at mileage. After
launching the Discover 100M, the new Discover 125 is
all set to attract mileage conscious riders to this
commuter motorcycle. The Bajaj Discover 125 is offered
in two variants, one with drum brakes while the other
gets a 200 mm petal disc at the front. Powering the
new Discover 125 is a 125cc, DTSi-engine which has 4-
valves and uses a Pentroof combustion chamber. The
bike has TwinSpark technology and generates 11.5 PS
of power at 8000 RPM and 10.8 Nm of torque at 6000
RPM, coupled to a 4-speed gearbox.
The new Bajaj Discover 125 gets Nitrox twin-suspension
at the rear and the company claims the petal disc is
race inspired! The price of the drum version of the new
Discover 125 is Rs. 49.075/- (ex-showroom,
Hyderabad) and the bike is available in six colours
namely magenta, blue, silver, red, green and silver.
Electric start is standard on the motorcycle and so are
the Y-shaped 10-spoke alloy wheels. As per the
company, the top speed of the new Discover 125 is 100
km/hr but we dont understand whats the need of this
variant when there is the Discover 125T?
Bajaj claims the Discover 125 returns a fuel mileage of
76 km/l, which is similar fuel efficiency as a 100cc bike.
The tagline is Jiyo Dana-Dan. The new Discover 125
gets DC lighting as standard and Bajaj Auto has
compared the motorcycle with the Honda CB Shine,
Hero Glamour and Hero Passion Pro (Bajajs
comparison table attached below). Bajaj Auto plans to
launch more variants of the Discover this year and
hopes to boost volumes in the commuter segment with
these new launches. However, other than adding more
variants to its portfolio, we are not quite sure how so
many variants are helping the company or the buyers
who are getting more confused.
