Hi guys,
As promised in my previous post - "Solo ride to Great White Rann of Kutch", I would like to share my experience and few images from my ride to Charminar, Hyderabad and some remaining images from Kutch's trip.
After returning from Kutch on 13/11/13, I did not have much to do apart from cleaning and polishing my bike as I still had 6 holidays remaining. After pampering my bike, I was surfing internet at around 6PM on 16/11/13, it suddenly hit me - I want to see The Charminar; believe me it wasnt me who would wish anything like this, but it was the rider inside which was awakened by last ride and I still could not realize that. Before embarking on ride to Kutch, I confessed within that this ride is going to break or make me. One thing of all I was sure about was that when I will return, I will no longer be the same person and that's exactly what happened, which I did not realize till the idea of riding to Charminar occured to me.
I timidly gave into my brave thought of an impromptu ride - I zipped the bag which was already prepared for ride (maybe I knew its gonna happen soon) all I did was just throw in T-shirts n innerwear..everything else required for ride was inside the bag already. I kept my bag aside and had dinner, by 10 I was in bed wondering maybe I wont wakeup on time n I'll drop the idea of ride...as its just an impulsive idea n not a planned one. I woke up at 4:30 that morning(17/11/13) and got ready and moved out by 6:30. One the way from Airoli to Pune I saw so many riders since it was Sunday, most groups where on road already; I met couple of friends from the group n waved them bye as they waited for others.
1st stop - 198Kms away from Mumbai on highway to Solapur from Pune.
2nd stop on Pune-Solapur highway to attend an important call.
3rd stop at near Solapur station at 4PM
4th stop at a Petrol pump in between Umarga n Humnabad n it was quite dark at 7, spooky petrol pump it was.
5th stop at Mannaekhelli to rest/cooldown my bike, halted at a watchmaker's shop - the shop-owner n his friend were so nice, they were so smitten by the sporty looking, bag laden bike with a properly geared n heavy bearded man in that sleepy village.
NH9 is frigging nightmare for any vehicle esp. when entered in Karnataka, I was feeling so bad about my bike that I felt like i'll put her in truck for rest of the way, even though Impulse can and she did deal with such roads, I was feeling pity on her. But she came out good and made me proud. NH9 was bad till the time I entered Hyderabad city and got on expressway Nehru ORR towards RajendraNagar.
Reached Charminar at 11:40PM - 17/11/13 after riding 745KMs in 15hours ride n approx. 2 hours breaks. Bad roads after Nal Durg, Solapur & traffic slowed me down drastically.
Checked-in in a nice lodge bang opp. Charminar, got fresh n went out, had dinner of "Malai Paya n Sirmal" at around 12:45, then clicked Charminar at 1:15AM,
roamed around a bit...since its a bazaar area, people were still hanging out. Next day visited to Golconda Fort, Museum, rode in by lanes near old city absorbing the environment, old world charm. In evening went to Tank Bund lake, glaring at beautifully lit Buddha statue in middle of lake. Sat there for 2 hours n wondered at the irony that the symbol of peace is surrounded by maddening traffic n blaring horns; still giving the sense of peace. Ended the day with wonderful biryani from Paradise at Secunderabad.
18/11/13 started the journey for home from Charminar, at 7AM n entered my house at 12AM. This time I took Sedam Rd from Karnataka to avoid that "Highway to Hell" NH9, while returning I clocked 787 KMs.
I cannot believe how much motorcycling can change a man.
(If I get leaves in Feb then I will have a story of around 4K Kms return trip to share with you all :D)
Enough talk; let's enjoy some pix now.
