First week of 2016 after celebrating our new year we decided to visit somewhere in himachal as I have a special connection with himachal but I wasn't sure where should I go so I called my friend prem he owns a ktm rc 390 . I had a conversation with him and he said whatever it is I am in without even listening anything so that was it my self abhay Singh proud owner of royal Enfield classic 500 desert storm and jonathan chang my pillion rider and prem arora on his ktm rc 390 left for a unplanned adventure to conquer our fears and test our survival skills .
87 hours - 1400 km -3 wild nomads
First ktm rc 390(stock bike) to reach there and come back in working condition
Day 1
Sunday 3rd January - 9pm
We leave from panipat with extraordinary energy there was a spark in our eyes. We had this vision that we have to reach somewhere not some specific place but ya where the heart tells us to go . We rode till 3 pm afternoon of Monday and we reached tapri which is (472) km from panipat it was a big leap and our bodies gave up so we decided to stop there And rest till next day .

Day 2
Despite of fatigue we couldn't sleep properly . Weather conditions were getting bad there was sign of rainfall and most probably snowfall so we had mixed emotions about the situation whether to proceed ahead or go back . What if we get stuck in snow . Locals said there will be snowfall most probably by morning .We got up around 4:00 am and it was raining and temperature dropped drastically and whatever gears we had were not enough to tackle the weather so we decided to wait till sunrise and shops to get open so that we can buy some more gears to handle the weather and we left around 8:30 from tapri road conditions were worst then we imagined there was plenty of weight on my bike as I was carrying a pillion rider plus luggage so it was pretty difficult for me and prem on his rc also faced many issues for obvious reasons being a track bike with those metzelers it wasn't easy at all . We encounter slush but that didn't stopped us from heading ahead we reached nako a small village around 120 km from tapri . Because of winters the tourism was literally dead there was no sign of any tourist or any sort of food joints somehow we managed to buy some biscuits and chocolates that was all we could eat . We reached nako around 3 pm and we decided to visit nako monastery we had little chit chat with locals they were pretty surprised to see us in this weather and specially on bikes we asked them is it okay to carry on further or should we stay here or where else can we stay if we decide to move ahead because Sun was about to set in few hours and temperature was decreasing rapidly . Locals advised us to not go ahead and stay there but that would cost us a lot of time and we couldn't agree to that as we left from home on a mission to conquer something special so we decided to leave and what we got to know was next place where we can find shelter was tabo another village around 64 kms from nako . After leaving from nako we realised it was a wrong decision coz Sun was about to set and it was getting dark and dangerous but we were already far from shelter so we kept moving and it started getting dangerous and we were pretty scared about the situation we reached tabo around 8:00 pm and we were freezing to death temperature was around -10 degrees and there was no sign of any human being We tried to knock doors of every possible house and no one responded and we realised If we don't get shelter in next few hours we will freeze to death . I saw a light I ran towards that house in search of help luckily a guy answered he opened the door for us and took us to a home stay named namsay owned by a lady and finally she agreed to let us in and we were relieved . As it was late and we were starving she shared food with us whatever she cooked for her family she shared it with us it was a very sweet gesture and we couldn't ask for more and finally we could sleep but there were thousands things running in our mind about next morning what should we do we were in spiti but should we go ahead or return back .

Day 3
We got up around 6:00 am and it was freezing outside temperature was near -25 and despite of all the gears we couldn't feel anything our hands and feets were numb . But we decided to wait for sunrise and leave for kaza which was around 50 kms from tabo we were low on fuel and next fuel station was in kaza or else buy from local shop in black which would cost us 100rs per litre .at 9:00 am we left from tabo and after 3-4 kms my bullet started shaking and I stopped and that was it my rear tyre was punctured and that was the biggest nightmare for us . There was no sign of any mechanic near by so prem left on his rc in search of mechanic and by the time he came back with help me and chang gathered woods and started bonfire so that we could stay warm and not freeze to death it took prem around 3-4 hours to come back he had to go around 25 km back but seeing him coming back with help was like a dream coz locals told us that only mechanic near by already left for south region so there is no possibility that we could find anything near by but we got lucky somehow and my bull was repaired they charged us 1000 bucks for the puncture and jeep charges prem's rc was carried in their pick up truck .it was already 12:00 of afternoon and our day was wasted but we were still confused about the situation should we move ahead after everything we faced or go back I left the decision on prem and jonathan. After few minutes of discussion we decided to go back home by not taking any other risk we were already in spiti valley our motive was fulfilled so there was no need of risking our life's on this point so we left from tabo around 1:30 pm and we decided to cover as much distance as we can till our bodies don't give up . We rode continuously for 24 hours and we reached panipat on Thursday 1:30 pm we saw fresh snow on our way in narkanda near shimla we carried food and woods for the bonfire and this extreme adventure finally ended we were tired and we were in pain coz of continuous riding and lack of sleep but all we wished was to reach back home and we did it with a big smile on our face.

What is riding for me ?
Riding motorcycle is something what connects me to my soul I feel free . Whenever I'm sad or angry I ride and I let everything go and that feel is something which cures every problem in this world I went to ladakh on my bullet in 2014 that was my dream ride reaching khardungla highest motorable road and I have a special bond with himachal . Nothing is prettier then himachal .there is something that keeps calling me and when hills call I go no matter what .
