Project 2&4 is a result of a global in-house design competition, an internal competition to foster exchanges among its global network of design studios. The rules of the contest were to take a V-4 motorbike engine, and put it on four wheels. The goal was to build something fun and thrilling. Honda wanted engineers to combine the stability and handling of a racecar with the driving experience of a motorcyclealmost like a supercharged go-cart.
It was envisioned by the company's motorcycle studio in Asaka, Japan and designed by Martin Petersson from a Honda motorcycle R&D center. It's powered by the 1.0-liter V4 engine Honda developed for MotoGP competition, driving 212 bhp and 118 nm of torque through a six-speed, dual-clutch transmission with less than 400kilograms of weight.
The other plus point is that the steering wheel and pedals can easily be flipped from one side to the other. Thus drivers around the world can customize their experience based on their track or country.
