The RFS 2015, considered to be the biggest in the city, involved thousands of bikers from various different biking groups, riding from BKC to Nariman point and back on a pleasant Sunday morning. The group ride was flagged off by Mr. Ahmad Javed – Commissioner of Police – Mumbai, and the famous Bollywood actor Sonu Sood. Just like every year, the Ride for Safety 2015 was also organized in collaboration with the Mumbai Police. This year, the rally also included over 500 traffic police personnel on bikes.

Other famous celebrities to attend the event were Mr. Sanjay Gupta (Bollywood Director) and Mr. Rohit Roy (Actor). Mr. Sanjay Gupta and Rohit Roy also were the lead riders for the group ride.

To promote road safety, Mr. Manish Gangwal (CFO, Gulf Oil Lubricants India) announced a contribution of 1000 helmets to the Mumbai Police. A replica of the helmet, which will be given to Mumbai Police, was also unveiled at the event.

Speaking prior to the event, Mr. Ravi Chawla (MD, Gulf Oil Lubricants India) said, “Gulf has been on the forefront of promoting motorsports, both in India & internationally for past 4 decades. We understand the need for safety on the track and more importantly, off it too. The rise in the number of 2-wheelers and 4-wheelers on the roads is positive reflection of India’s growth story but it also puts a greater responsibility on us as citizens to ensure road safety. Partnering Mumbai Police and Wheelie Boy for ‘Ride for Safety’ is just one such step towards raising awareness. We at Gulf Oil, wish team RFS all the very best and thank Mumbai traffic Police towards their endeavour of making & keeping Mumbai roads safe for Bikers.”

Vijay Jain (MD of the Wheelieboy Adventures India Ltd.), the brain child behind the Ride for Safety said, “Riding should be passion and must be done for you and not to show the world.” If we can buy a screen Guard for our Phone to save it from scratches and falls, then why don’t we buy a good helmet for our Safety ? It isn’t a ROCKET SCIENCE,” added Mr Vijay Jain.

Road safety is emerging as a major social concern globally and particularly in India. According to a survey by WHO, each year road accident related injuries take away 1.2 million lives globally and injure many more. So we at xBhp congratulate Team Ride for Safety and Mumbai Police and all their sponsors who came forward to address this issue and raise awareness about the importance of adopting adequate safety gear while riding two-wheelers because this is what xBhp has always been trying to do - to educate more and more people about being a responsible road user. We pledge our unconditional support to Ride For Safety & Wheelieboy, like we have done in the past, because initiatives such as this that involve the community and authorities will go a long way ensuring road safety measures and use of helmet.
