Which bike should I go for?

Hello experts!
I had posted a thread long back on this forum which can be found here, http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/what-bik...-do-i-buy.html . I thank @sanjaysangar1990 for his opinion. :)
Anyway coming back to this post, I had dropped the idea of buying a bike then as my parents told me to put off the idea for some days due to financial constraints. Most probably, I'll be buying a bike in December. I still need some advice on which one should I go for.
My budget is around 1 Lakh, which can be pushed for a really great bike.
I am 19 years old college student, so mostly I'll be commuting to college which is 3 km from my room and occasionally some road trips.
I'd be happy the bike would have low maintenance charges and high fuel efficiency(say around 40? Could anyone also give information on how much fuel efficiency can I expect with performance bikes?).
City usage percentage is around 80% and 20% highway.
As of now I don't have a vehicle, so I don't know how much will the bike run per month, but I'm expecting it to go around 1000 km.
I live in city itself (Mysore. It has good roads and comparatively light traffic. However they ride pretty dangerously around here).
I have few bikes in mind, but please feel free to suggest some others as well. I was thinking of Gixxer SF, 200NS, 200AS, RS200, ZMR. Also, should I go for Royal Enfield Classic? I'll have emotional attachment to my first bike and I feel that a RE never gets old and I can keep it for long. However please correct me if I'm wrong. Please give pros and cons for each of these bikes.
Pillion comfort is necessary as I'll be taking my friends or family, but it's not a big deal for me.
I'm 6 feet tall, built, weighing around 85. I have some experience riding a bike, but still I'm a beginner and I need a bike which is forgiving.
Also please tell me how important is the engine displacement, bhp and torque in a bike. ( I'm a newbie, so please pardon me)
