Yamaha Motors went retro to celebrate its 60th anniversary and unveiled the R1 Speed Block edition with the yellow and black 1970s racing livery.

The Special edition R1 Speed Block was unveiled to commemorate Yamahas 60th anniversary at Paul Ricard Circuit in France and will go on sale in the international markets by late 2015. Apart from the new livery, the Yamaha R1 Speed Block edition will also be equipped with an Akrapovic slip-on muffler.
The special edition motorcycle pays tribute to the legendary riders and the winning Yamaha Racing bikes from past.
On the mechanical front the Speed Block edition Yamara R1 gets no chances and continues to draw same power by a 998cc, inline-four crossplane motor churning out 200PS at 13,500rpm and 112.5Nm of peak torque at 11,500rpm. The mill will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox and the bike tips the scale at just 199kg.
The Yamaha R1 has been priced at Rs 22.34 lakh in India while it is uncertain whether the Speed Block edition will be brought to India in the near future.
