A little about me - So, I have been into biking for past 13 years:cool::cool:... My first bike was back in 2002 and was my dad's new splendor... I still remember the say when a few of my friends had just bought a new bicycles and there arrives, yours truly on a shining new black splendor in all its glory:beguiled::beguiled:. Today a lot of you with your new enfields and dukes and RCs or maybe even a ninja or a daytona must be thinking, what a looser talking about splendor on xbhp in 2015. But hold your horses the story doesn't end here with me having a splendor for 13 damn years. I rode the splendor everyday as my dad didnt stay in the city due to his work and i had the perfect reign over my baby. Oh another fond memory was the 20 rs of petrol i used to fill in my splendor every 2nd day:rolleyes::rolleyes: you cant do that with today's gas guzzlers now can you and couple that with the exorbitant fuel prices today and saying "bhaiya 20 ka dena" would attract some really offensive stares like you are one looney who was sleeping under a rock for over a decade. but well enough about my miser days.
Then came 2007 when bajaj had announced the big daddy of Indian biking, the pulsar 220fi, and then began a dream of acquiring the biggest baddest pulsar ever made(pertaining to that time). I dreamt day and night of having a pulsar 220fi and started dropping not so subtle hint to my parents and one day a deal was struck between dad and me, that if i score anywhere above 80% in my upcoming board exams, the he'll think about gifting one of these bad boys to me. Ah sleepless nights filled with dreams of a pulsar turned into sleepless nights in the company of books and caffeine ( something very new to me:confused::confused:). Oh but a dedicated mind is a powerful tool and can do anything if it want. Without boring you with much details about my boards and everything I would just like to say that i got 82% (tiny detail though the 39 in my accounts preboards turned around to be 93 in the boards, just bragging :cool::cool: ) and had a real shot at having a 220fi.
After a lot of discussions and begging to say the least dad never agreed for a 220 but he still managed to somehow say a yes for a 180, so I met a friend the same evening to ride his new silver 180 with black alloys and engine. loved the combination of black and silver instantly. wnt to the baja showroom on AJC Bose road the next day pain the cash and booked the bike. 3 days later not much idea about buying a new bike I didnt even see the bike and asked the sales rep to start the registration process. but something hit me and went to check on the bike the next day and found that there was some problem with the fuel pump and the bike wouldn't start and even if it did the engine will give a false race. Left the bike there for repairing and the next day the bike was ready for delivery and man it stated like a charm in one go. But well this happiness was short lived as the electricals went haywire. The next day I visit the dealership again this time infuriated with anger visible on my red face. The dealer said he would again fixed it, I shouted at one go that i dont want this bike, its a new bike and it behaves like its some 30 years old. After 1hour long "discussion" the dealer offered me to change the bike with a newer model but i was dedicated to get my money back as I was no longer interested in buying anything from that god forsaken place. another 2 hours and 100 excuses such as sir its already under the registration process blah blah blah!!! later I get a cheque for my bike less 300 bucks. A couple of months passed by my CA and CS foundation exams made me busy (yes i am a studious bum now:chargrined::chargrined:) cleared both with flying colours, again negotiations started with dad this time too ended up with no 220 but the newly announced FZ-16, it was no 220 but it was nice.. paid the amount around September 1st week and delivery was due on Nov 1st... asked the dealer if i could pick it up on 5th (b'day n all). Birthday came no excitement for either the bike or the birthday... All i wanted at this point was a pulsar 220 thats it. No brithday cakes no useless tshirts (the cliched birthday gift) no nothing just a new shining pulsar 220, preferably black.
My birthday passed didnt take the deliver, another 2 months passed by still never went to the dealer to pickup my bike and avoided all his calls. One fine cold January morning finally my dad said those golded words " bade ziddi ho yaar tum, jao fz cancel karo aur pulsar ka test drive le k dekh lo bike kaisi hai chala paoge k nahi.Is bar sab dekh bhal k final kar k le lo " ( Did dad really believed that i hadn't taken a test drive). finally I picked 21st jan as my delivery date and everything was fine and dandy. FZ was cancelled pulsar was just about to come home. But as fate would have it I couldn't have an uneventful day now could I. like a acha bacha, i wake up early get ready and go to pick up my bike, I forget the cheques under the impression that dad has it and vice-versa with dad. we go there done with the formalities, and we realise we dont have the money to buy the damn bike. dad rushes home while i wait with my cousin at the pro biking and an hr later i finally am done with the payment and just need to go and pick up the damn bike.
Reached the probiking service centre at DL Khan road at 4 o'clock to pick up my bike. this time had a thorough check up of the bike. It seemed fine as had my dream come true on 21st jan 2009 at 4.45pm. Since then i have been a strong advocate to the pulsar line up and I'll always own a pulsar till the time I can.

Fast-forward - fast forward to today... i am about to be placed in a couple of months and i am in the lookout for a new sub 600cc bike and my budget is 3.5lakhs this time and now i need the help of my fellow xbhpians to help me choose the perfect bike. I have had small test rides of the duke and RC 390, continental gt and thunderbird 350.
PS- No family drama this time:D:D:D:D;););)
