hi folks I bought a enfiled explorer couple of years back then thought about restorinng it to the Glory! I have a great love towards 2 strokes and german engineering .... so started to hunt for a german bike which is more easily restorable than a enfield Fury as those where sold in very less numbers in the late 80's .....I have informed many friends and Mechanics whom I know and would get me a decent priced bike with clean papers.....:cool: to my great disbelief my mechanic called me and told there is a single owned enfield available for sale with clear titles and I was rushing to the spot to get a glimpse of this machine which i have never sat on in my life thou I have seen many college guys used to speed passing me when i used to go to school in Rickshaw (3 wheeled Motor operated school auto) The bike was in a pretty bad state as i expected and without asking anything about the bike and other details I asked how much and I paid and happily that owner left Then I started and knew that the bike starts in a kick and then the accelerator wont work as the cable is gone..........then I asked the mechanic where will i get the cable there used to be shop who have spared for all these 80's bike in Chennai Pudupet I started towing my bike with my frds help took it to a near by workshop and headed to the shop recommended by the mechanic and to by disbelief his face changed and reaction was weird " what bike " "explorere" is it bajaj company bike ...... I was clean bowled. I told him this is Enfield (Zundapp) Explorer 50 cc bike then he said we have TVS champ accelerator cable. I bought that and asked him cani speak to your manager ? he said please wait. Then his manager was in his 50's so i was happy that this guy should have heard of this bike he told ya we used to sell spares for this bike few years ago and now a days there is no customer requesting for these parts so we dont have stock. then i asked if he would get some stock based on order he said no its very difficult to get 1 or 2 numbers so he said this will fit your bike so dont worry. then that day i have fitted and brought to home and then later after some 1 week of driving the bike in the city I took to my mechanic and gave him the bike and asked him to start fulll restoration
